I was born and lived in Brisbane for 20 years before moving to New Guinea to work for The Department of Treasury in Port Moresby and then The South Pacific Post, the local newspaper.
My father (a professional photographer) had always encouraged me to actually 'see' - not to simply presume what I thought was the obvious. This was an exciting way to view the world and very helpful when I started collecting my reference images.
Marriage and children followed and then being able to spend 1977 overseas gave me the opportunity to visit and revisit the wonderful galleries in London, France and Italy. In recent years I have added galleries in Spain, St. Petersburg and New York to the list and this has contributed greatly to my ongoing art education.
In 1984 our family of six moved to Toowoomba where I would paint whenever I found the time.
My then painting area consisted of shelving, an ironing board and a stool. This worked very well as I found the ironing board to be the perfect height ... not much ironing got done though.
Over the years there have been a number of Summer Schools and Workshops ...... " it is always ongoing and a wonderful journey".
