About my paintings ....
I am often asked .... 'what subjects do you paint?' .. This is hard to answer because my paintings are not usually about the subject.
My process of creating a painting is mostly intuitive and will slowly develop and it is only during this process that something may become recognisable..
Having lived so much of my life at the beach I find this often does influence my work as do the wonderful trees found around here on the mountain ranges of Toowoomba.
I also quite often include people, birds and flowers in the work.
Finally, it is through the use of colour, light, tone and structure that my final image will evolve. (I must mention here that occasionally I decide to paint a location or image from the start - even my own rules can be broken!)
I live and paint in Toowoomba amid a very active and energetic cultural scene.
There is no doubt that original paintings add another dimension to 'living' in your space.
Just find the image you love and go from there.
I enjoy supporting a number of organisations and find local school art exhibitions a very worthy cause.
RME Downlands Art Exhibition 2021 will be held during Carnival week in September.
If you enjoy art and would like to be notified of my future exhibitions, please join my mailing list below so that you will be included in my emails.. I have managed at least one solo exhibition each year for the last four years (except 2020!) This year I am hoping to hold one with my daughter Anna (Shiny Happy Art) during Carnival week in Toowoomba at the Rep. Theatre Gallery, Margaret St. Will let you know if this comes about.
