I was born in Brisbane (1946) and moved to Toowoomba from Cairns with my husband and four children at the end of 1984.
I really can't remember a time when I didn't want to draw or paint!
My father was a professional photographer in Brisbane so I joined him in the studio after leaving school. It was here that I learnt about colour and tone while retouching negatives and colouring photographs. Dad enjoyed teaching what he knew and would explain why he was lighting a sitter in a particular way or even why he chose a particular backdrop.
Living with original paintings on your wall adds personality and feeling to your home ..... it will bring your space alive while adding joy and interest every day for years to come. My parents only had one original painting in our home. It was a still life by Vincent Brown. There were a lot of photographs but only one original piece of art. I still remember my thoughts as I would study that painting ..... nothing else in the house measured up to that original artwork!!
Daughter Anna and I have held an exhibition at Wendland Fine Foods (Toowoomba) during June for the past couple for years. Maybe again this year? .... it's always fun. You can also find our paintings at Cobb & Co Museum Toowoomba. (QMCobb&Co).

From 2016 onwards I held an annual solo exhibition at the Repertory Theatre gallery, Margaret Street Toowoomba, until Covid interrupted the momentum. I now have paintings in shared and group exhibitions whenever possible.
Thank you to the judges for the Best Artwork prize (The Anne and Fred Gardiner Award) at the Toowoomba Art Society during September 2024 with 'Jacaranda on Railway Street' showing the historic Toowoomba Railway Station through the branches of a beautiful jacaranda tree which has been there for many many years. It is always a large boost to receive this award.
