(Thank you very much for popping by)
A little about my paintings ....
I enjoy painting familiar subjects in an unfamiliar way with the majority of my paintings in an abstracted/ expressionistic style where I paint what I feel using shapes and colour, line and tone.
Where there is light there is colour but how much colour depends on the time of day and also the season It is finding the shapes that are formed by the light is what I find so fascinating.

I was born in Brisbane (1946) and moved to Toowoomba from Cairns with my husband and four children at the end of 1984.
I really can't remember a time when I didn't want to draw or paint.
My father was a professional photographer in Brisbane. I joined him in the studio after leaving school and it was here where I learnt so much about tone and colour without even realising it. Dad enjoyed teaching me what he knew and would explain 'why' he was lighting a sitter in a particular way or even why he chose a particular backdrop.
There is no doubt that original paintings add another dimension to 'living' in your space so just find the ONE YOU LOVE ..... it really will add joy plus that extra something to your life every day and for years to come. My parents only had one original painting in our home, a still life by Vincent Brown. There were a lot of photographs but only one original piece of art. I still remember my thoughts as I would study this painting ..... nothing else in the house measure up to that original work.
My last exhibition with Anna (eldest daughter) was in December at Rep. Theatre, Toowoomba, and was really good ! .... a big 'thank you' to all who visited us during that time. .
Our next shared exhibition is in June 2025 at Wendland Fine Foods (Cnr. Mary and Bridge Sts.Toowoomba). It will be 12 months since our last one there so I think we can almost call it 'annual'.
The December exhibition, the DNA & Family Ties exhibitions, all bought a smile to our face with many interested friends and visitors popping in. There was a lot of talking about the paintings and art in general so a big 'thank-you' to everyone!!
If you enjoy art and would like to be notified of any future exhibitions please join my mailing list below to be included in emails. (I promise there are only one or two a year so you really have nothing to lose).
Since 2016 I have held a solo exhibition yearly at the Toowoomba Repertory Theatre gallery in Margaret Street. (The Covid year was an exception.) I also have work in shared and group shows in Toowoomba whenever possible.
I was extremely happy to have my painting 'WONDERMENT' accepted and included in The Carnival Queens Exhibition at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery last September. This painting was quite large and more abstract and might be the first of more to come.
Also very happy and surprised to receive the Best Artwork prize (The Anne and Fred Gardiner Award) at the Toowoomba Art Society during September 2024. My painting 'Jacaranda on Railway Street' showed the historic Toowoomba Railway Station through the branches of a beautiful jacaranda tree which has been there for many many years. Thank you to the judges, it is always a large boost to receive this award.
